L.V.N. - Full Time (Days)

Department: 4417 - Jail Diversion (FACT)
Location: San Antonio, TX
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

PURPOSE

The LVN will provide direct nursing services for consumers, assist with laboratory, EKGs and other medical treatments, maintain pharmaceutical oversight of medication samples, and complete associated documentation for the consumer and program including initiation and completion of billing strips.

 
TASKS

  1. Provide technical nursing services  to clients to include medication injections, assist physicians with  caseloads.
  2. Assures the operation of a safe therapeutic environment, as well as monitoring the utilization of sample medications, including New Generation (Atypical) Medications (NGMs)
  3. Assist with laboratory collection which includes blood draws, EKGs, and other medical treatments/interventions appropriately, taking initial health history on new patients
  4. Maintains pharmaceutical oversight of medication samples for specified units participating in the program through assigned unit level staff, maintaining accurate account of stock medications, controlled substances, and consumer medications 
  5. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  1. High School  Diploma or GED
  2. Current Texas LVN licensure
  3. One (1)  two (2)  years' of experience in an acute fast paced environment
  4. Knows and conforms to the Texas Nurse I Practice Act and the Boardís rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State, and local laws, rules, or regulations affecting the LVNís current area of nursing practice
  5. Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and system databases
  6. Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
  7. Must  maintain a valid driverís license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Companyís auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business 
  8. Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and  getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  9. Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending,  stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers,  hands, feet, legs and torso in various care. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up  to 50 pounds.  The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.

PREFERRED 

       1. Three (3) years' of nursing experience in a mental health environment    

       2.  Bilingual ( English/Spanish )
