Consumer Benefits Specialist II

Department: 2403 Northwest OP Clinic
Location: San Antonio, TX
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

PURPOSE

The Consumer Benefits Specialist I will assist consumers with identifying, enrolling in and maintaining benefit source and completes associated documentation.

TASKS

  1. Provide Mental Health consumers with assistance in determining eligibility for, access to & maintenance of benefits and entitlements
  2. Perform SSI/DI, CHIP, Medicaid Only, & Medicare supplements, financial and medical screenings; complete benefits forms with potentially eligible clients; summarize medical and interview information; submit complete application to Social Security Admin
  3. Monitor eligibility profiles of Mental Health Clients to identify potential eligibility for benefit determination and application; ensure eligibility for benefits are not lost through oversight
  4. Receive and complete all requests for information from the Texas Rehabilitation Commission for consumers being assisted by a Consumer Benefits Spec for their final determination of benefit 
  5. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Two to Three (2-3) years of SSI/DI, CHIP, Medicaid Only, & Medicare supplements financial and medical screenings experience in a MHMR Center environment
  3. One year experience in third party filer operations
  4. Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and system databases
  5. Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
  6. Must maintain a valid driverís license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Companyís auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business 
  7. Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  8. Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.

PREFERRED 

       1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Health Administration, or Behavioral Science

       2. Bilingual (English/Spanish)
