Document Imaging Specialist

Department: 2002 - CBH Outpatient Services
Location: San Antonio, TX
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM

PURPOSE 

The Document Imaging Specialist is responsible for retrieving preparing, scanning and indexing medical records.

TASKS

  1. Prepares (preps) health information documents for scanning into the electronic medical record document imaging system
  2. Manually or auto-indexes health information documents into the electronic medical record document imaging system
  3. Scans health information documents into the electronic medical record document imaging system
  4. Performs quality checks (image, text, and property reviews) of health information documents scanned to ensure legibility and accuracy
  5. Retrieves medical records and health information that will be scanned
  6. Responds to staff inquiries regarding the status of health information
  7. Tracks medical records and health information that have been scanned
  8. Works collaboratively with records staff from other service locations, including the records storage and destruction areas
  9. Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS 

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Five (5) years’ Administrative Support or Medical Records experience
  3. PC Skills-demonstrates proficiency in keyboard operations, Microsoft Office applications and others as required
  4. Physical- must be capable of transferring/lifting/ carrying twenty to thirty-five (20 to 35) pounds of medical record documents
  5. Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
  6. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business 
  7. Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.

 

PREFERRED 

  1. Experience in the Health Information field
  2. Some college coursework
  3. Experience with Document Management Systems
  4. Experience with Anasazi Software
  5. Experience with CASO, Inc. Software

2 = Primarily Office Work
3 = Primarily Physical Work
