Foster Care Specialist

Department: 9254 - COSA
Location: San Antonio, TX
Work Schedule: M-F: 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. w/ on-call rotation


The Foster Care Specialist will review and screen referrals to program, work with and provide direct services to foster parents, and completed associated documentation.


  1. Review and screen referrals to ensure children are appropriate for foster care
  2. Work with foster parents to carry out services for the child outside the home and therapeutic care within the home
  3. Provide direct services to foster parents and teaching staff regarding the placed child(ren); interact with children in the foster home and on outside activities 
  4. Ensure clinical documentation is submitted in accordance with Center standards, and meets all designated requirements 
  5. Link and refer foster families and children to appropriate services (internal and external) 
  6. Participate in ARD and other school items as needed 
  7. Other duties as assigned



  1. Bachelor's degree in a behavioral sciences disciplines   
  2. One (1) year of Case Management experience with children, adolescents and families     
  3. Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office software and system databases        
  4. Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and  CHCS policies
  5. Must maintain a valid driverís license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Companyís auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business
  6. Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and      supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  7. Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.
