Employment Specialist II - IDD Experience Required

Location: San Antonio, TX
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM


The Employment Specialist II is responsible for recruiting new employers, locate new jobs for consumers, recruiting new consumers into the Employment Network, Network with DARS Counselors, work with consumers on job skill training, and provide support to consumers for maintenance of employment, complete documentation for each consumer in the program.


  1. Network with various employers to identify and develop new job placement opportunities for identified consumers
  2. Recruit new individuals into the Agency Employment Network
  3. Work directly with consumers and employers to develop job opportunities leading to employment outcomes for supported employment consumers 
  4. Educate community in regards to needed services for consumers
  5. Assist consumers in discovering job interest/skills and assist consumers in obtaining and maintaining jobs 
  6. Conduct job analysis to help consumer learn job duties 
  7. Conduct ongoing follow up visits to ensure consumers maintain job skills/placement, and Provide ongoing support to ensure consumer job satisfaction 
  8. Prepare documentation in a timely fashion and meet billable guidelines
  9. Prepare DARS/Vocational packing to include CCSA 
  10. Other duties as assigned



  1. High School Diploma or GED 
  2. Three (3) years’ of full-time experience working with people with disabilities and completion of an approved training in Supported Employment (within six (6) months of employment)
  3. Must be available to work flexible hours and days to assist consumers in obtaining and maintaining employment of their choice
  4. Must achieve DARS approved Job Coaching,Job Placement and Supported Employment Best Practices training certificate within six (6) months of employment 
  5. Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
  6.  Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business 
  7. Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  8. Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.
