Delivery Clerk /Driver - Part-Time

Department: 4422 - Jail Re-entry
Location: San Antonio, TX
Work Schedule: Nights and Week-ends


The Driver / Delivery Clerk will provide transportation of clients to and from The Center For Health Care Services (CHCS) and County facilities and as well as delivery of CHCS’s mail or documents if needed.


  1. Responsible for providing and coordinating all driving for clients in the deferred institutionalized programs and other diversion or court programs, as organized/needed to and from all CHCS facilities and various outside agencies i.e. Bexar County
  2. Driving shifts are/ can be 24/7 to include rotating holidays or being designated shifts, per the Program Director or designee
  3. Responsible for coordinating and performing routine maintenance of all CHCS issued vehicles assigned to units at the Packard Building in conjunction with the Fleet Maintenance Department
  4. Provide sufficient fuel, gas /complete mileage logs appropriately.
  5. Communicate with Program Director or designee immediately should any deviation from the transportation plan occur with any clients
  6. Notify Program Director or designee immediately if Driver must call in sick for their shift due to illness or emergency, as proper notification is required by the County
  7. Other duties as assigned


  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Must maintain required credentials and mandatory training requirements to ensure compliance with all State regulations and CHCS policies
  3. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance coverage, be able to travel as needed, and be able to meet on a consistent basis the driving record requirements of the Company’s auto insurance carrier if you drive your vehicle during company business 
  4. Must be able to meet the physical requirements to complete SAMA and CPR training including lifting up to 12 lbs. and supporting up to 55 lbs.; bending, stooping and getting on and off the floor without assistance.
  5. Must have adequate mobility that requires frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching (vertical and horizontal), using fingers, hands, feet, legs and torso in various care. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to occasionally transfer a consumer.


  1. Bilingual (English / Spanish)
  2. Some basic knowledge of mental illness
